Computer freezes after installing steam
Apr 20, 4, Installed any new games? With Steam Cloud saves enabled, some games will really thrash your drive while syncing. If you open Task Manager and see Steam maxing out your drive, that's probably it. IE, my Spellforce 3 save folder is 4Gb. Steam would lock up every time I quit the game albeit for only a couple of seconds. Disabled cloud saves, no more problem. That was already taken care of when the drive containing the steam installation and all steam apps was removed I ran the uninstall first jik.
Uninstalled a few Windows updates with no change them finally Asus AI Suite it was disabled from startup when the problem first started, but still installed. Uninstalled, rebooted, and the computer is now running CS:GO with no issues. Will keep an eye on it and report back. Problem solved. Click Windows Start and type in msconfig and run that resulting process. Go to the services tab and check the box on bottom "Hide all Microsoft services". Take screenshots of all that is left. Then go to the startup tab on top of that same window Task Manager in W Take screenshots of all that there also. Don't forget to scroll down if needed and get everything in the shots, please. Post all the links to the above screenshots here, using a file hosting site such as imgur.
Ok, I'll do all of those. Your's is still checked in the msconfig shots Daemon Tools Lite also a known conflict with Steam, or once was That's what I see off the top of my head. I will keep looking closer. Ok, thanks! Some of those are important, but not all of them, so, I'll try uninstalling them all and restarting my system and steam.
I'll post the results here. Remember, you are troubleshooting an issue. You can always reinstall programs later if they are found to not be an issue.
And don't forget to restart the computer once you uninsatall any programs or make changes in msconfig. Sorry, I see you already understand this about restarting.
Well, 10 minutes have passed since I've started Steam, and everything is fine. The client gave me an error message saying that this installation needed to be fixed using admin rights, so I've clicked on "repair" or something, but the popup went black and stopped working.
Had to force it to close, and tried to start steam again, and now it logged in and is working as I think it should. Steam probably had to correct some files that were corrupted or having an issue due to the conflicting software or processes that you disabled or programs that were uninstalled. And i wasn't asking for help. TNAB, I already told you to stop posting if you're not going to be helpful. Someone may be able to point me to something that is helpful.
I already planned on contacting them directly if I couldn't find help here. Do not post in my thread again; you are one of the least-useful people I have ever seen on a help forum.
If I do that, do the games uninstall too, or will they stay on the computer and I just have to reinstall the client to be able to access them? And then after another attempt at deleting the. I wonder if that defrag made it fine, though I wouldn't think that'd cause the issue I was having Updated drivers, but the issue magically resolved itself before I had to do so.
Hopefully the issue doesn't rear its ugly head again. I appreciate your help, though. Angel View Profile View Posts. Not the number one possibility, but you might have gotten a virus in your computer. I would suggest scanning, defragging, and scanning again on all your computer files.
If it is something corrupt, defragmentation might help you out. If it is a virus, then it could help to scan. Don't put all of your trust into scans though, use this tactic to make sure it is clean. Type fake info in your computer, like a fake Name or something, if it is left alone, you might be clear.
If you find evidence that somebody tried to use that name for something, they are still in your computer.
